SCHS Santa and Ski Swap

Stormy - Author of the Week

Stormy - Author of the Week

Dear Pet Column Readers,

My name is Stormy – not a reflection of my personality which is truly quite sunny.  I am announcing two fun Second Chance Humane Society events over the next two weekends.  The first takes place Saturday November 15th during the KOTO Ski Swap in Telluride.  Second Chance adoptable pets will be arriving in the Mobile Mutts & Meows RV and greeting fans and visitors with our purrs and wags (yes the silly dogs are coming too…) in the open lot across from Wilkinson Public Library on Pacific Street from 9 AM to 1 PM.

I hear that the skiing folk hold great affection for pets and thus we thought that this weekend would be a great chance meet with those affections.  Whether you are looking for a new family member or just want to share some hugs with us, please stop by for a visit.

The mobile adoption program is concluding a successful year after receiving continued funding from the Telluride Foundation and the Town of Telluride.  The program enabled monthly and bi-monthly mobile adoption events within various communities throughout San Miguel and Ouray Counties.  Not only does the Mobile Adoption Program provide an opportunity for community members of the extended SCHS service area to meet adoptable pets, it also allows shelter pets like me a change away from the shelter environment for the day.

The following weekend, Saturday November 22nd, Second Chance will be hosting their annual Santa Paws event at the Ouray County Non-Profit Holiday Bazaar.  The Bazaar takes place at the 4H Event Center in Ridgway from 10AM – 5PM and will offer Holiday booths from over a dozen local non-profits throughout Ouray County.  Second Chance will be hosting a booth as well as a jolly Santa who will be sitting for Holiday Keepsake photos of your pets and/or your kids and family.  What a great way to bring in some Holiday Cheer but amongst all the organizations that work hard year round to make a positive difference in our community.  The Halls will be decked, Holiday treats will abound, and Santa will be waiting…

Susan Long, the hard working and dynamic Director of the Ouray County 4H Event Center, came up with the idea of the Non-Profit Holiday Bazaar.  Susan is dedicated in her promotion of the non-profits of this community and her efforts are deeply appreciated by the staff, volunteers, and furry four-legged friends of Second Chance, such as me.

Now, back to me…I am a stunningly handsome male cat awaiting my new forever family.  If you are looking for an outgoing, yet easy going, purr-machine with mousing skills, sporting a solid build to warm your lap this winter, I am your guy.  I have survived a lot of ups and downs in my life and have put it all behind me in hopes of finding my soul-family.  Just pet me, love me, and never leave me – and my heart is yours.

Purrs, Stormy (i.e. survived the stormy weather and still Sunny)
